Buy Hearing Aids That Fit Your Style & Needs
Choosing the right hearing aid device is a tough decision that involves many factors. Budget, age, degree of hearing loss, and personal preference are all important things to consider, and only an experienced hearing aid center can go over everything in detail to ensure you get the right solution for your unique needs.
Overview of Hearing Aid Devices
Do you think you need a hearing aid device, but aren’t sure which one is right for you? We can help you figure that out during your consultation and hearing test, but we want you to have a basic understanding of the options that are available. Below, we’ll break down the solutions available at our hearing aid center so you can choose what’s best for you.
Behind-the-Ear (BTE) Hearing Aids
BTE hearing aids are suitable for people of all ages suffering from any type of hearing loss. The hearing aid device hooks over your ear and rests behind it and is connected via tubing to custom ear mold that sits in your ear canal. A BTE hearing aid has directional microphones and is capable of more amplification than other models, but it may also pick up more wind noise.
Completely-in-Canal (CIC) Hearing Aids
Molded to fit entirely in your ear canal, CIC hearing aids are the least visible and pick up the least amount of wind noise. They do not have directional microphones and run on batteries that can’t be recharged, unlike other models, and they are susceptible to clogs. CIC hearing aids are suitable for adults with mild to moderate hearing loss.
In-the-Canal (ITC) Hearing Aids
An ITC hearing aid is custom molded to fit partially in your ear canal. While still visible, they are less noticeable than a BTE hearing aid. Suitable for adults with mild to moderate hearing loss, ITE hearing aids include features not found on CIC hearing aids, but they are also susceptible to wax buildup.
In-the-Ear (ITE) Hearing Aids
Available in two styles—one that fills the entire bowl-shaped area of your ear and one that fits only half—ITE hearing aids are suitable for mild to severe hearing loss for people of almost any age. They are outfitted with directional microphones for better amplification and are available with rechargeable batteries, but they are more noticeable than some models and may pick up wind noise.
